I'm a snackaholic. I freaking LOVE crackers and chips. But recently, I decided I needed to trese y cutting back on the amount of gluten I consume. I stumbled upon these Sweet Potato Crackers while presiding Amazon and decided to give them a try.
FIRST IMPRESSIONS: 1. I'll just get this out of the way now. I hate that anything remotely healthy has to be expensive. These technically aren't cheap for someone on a very limited budget, but since the bags are pretty darned packed, the cost is about average with local store prices.
2. The "crackers" texture immediately reminded me of thick tortilla chips. They're crispy and hard, almost a little too hard with the baked-in seeds. I had a couple crackers that were thinner than others in the package and honestly liked those the best! I did try the crackers with salsa and sour cream...YUM! I'm planning to make nachos with them at some point as the should hold up well, even if they're a little bit small in size.
3. I have quite a few crumbled crackers in my latest order that didn't fair so well in transit. I figured these would be a nice substitute for salad croutons or ground down to make chicken coating. Shouldn't even need too much added seasoning either.
All in all, I'm happy with these Sweet Potato Crackers. Definitely not for those seeking low-carbs, but being gluten-free and edible was my goal: success!
Someday, I'd like to try R.W. Gaecia's Kale Crackers ($30 a box tho? Dang)
