This is my new favourite book to gift! Not only is it inclusive in its depiction of both sexes taking on all jobs, it is also culturally diverse.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book is great!

I liked this book a lot! Teamwork, skills, shared goals, and how they all come together are the takeaway. Yes, the reader will use those collaborative skills that they learn in class after they grow up. So many possibilities for readers to explore, but the extensive cooperation needed to make things work and make them better is the unseen magic of it all. The brilliant illustrations hitch it together.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great encouragement to think about all jobs in society

This book is very special because as well as celebrating architects, scientists and engineers, it also provides a welcome focus on those who get their hands dirty to make their projects a reality, those who "build the dream". It this way it honours builders, welders, drainlayers, drivers and so on. An important message - especially in this Covid times when our interdependence has become so much more evident.

Many schools do a unit in EYFS on "People who help us" and I think this book would fit very well into that as there are so many different jobs to spot.

It has short, catchy repeating text on each spread and lively bright pictures. It shows people hard at work in a range of jobs and from a range of diverse backgrounds.

One thing to note for British audiences, it uses the word "Math" not "Maths" though if I were reading it aloud I would just read it the British way

5.0 out of 5 stars The book I’ve always been looking for

I first randomly found this book in our public library and absolutely loved it (and my 4.5 year old did too). I liked it so much that I bought it. The book highlights many of the principles I strive to instill in my children: team work, hard work, ingenuity, value of all careers, being a creator/producer (whether architect or builder for example), and an understanding of how the things we have were the result of many people’s efforts…I could go on. This is a great book and I highly recommend. I hope the author puts out more with this similar theme.

This book has it all. Great writing, though not a story. Excellent illustrations. Imaginative. Perfect for helping youngsters see possibilities for the future. And to realize a bit of the work that goes into a finished product. Highly recommend. Wouldn’t mind a similar book with characters we can relate too. Ie, put a bit of story into it.

I got it for a 5 year old. She can’t read it, but she can appreciate it. This is true of many children’s books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Honoring Workers and Builders

What a beautiful concept! My husband works in the construction industry and we marvel at the beauty of what is created by groups of hardworking people, following a plan. Lisa Wheeler gently points out that the architect is important, but sometimes we forget, they make the plans, many pairs of skilled hands make the dreams come true. Illustrations by Loren Long are a perfect complement to this inspiring text.

I love this author. I’m just a fan of her in general. But I think she just nails it with very book I’ve read of hers. Which is only 4. But 3out of those 4 are the favorites of all time reading with my son. My son can recite them all we read them so much. Still. Three years later. I just love her books.

My grandson likes this book. He plays lawn care worker, construction worker, fireman constantly and has many vehicles. His other books focus on construction vehicles but not the human workers.
