Bought this to replace my old Xbox 360 controller that stopped working. This controller works great, no connection issues, no input lag, no issues with any of my games. Simply the best controller for Windows 10 gaming.
Latest version of Windows. Other bluetooth devices connect without issue, even an older Xbox One controller which I have works perfectly - but this controller will not be seen by the exact same bluetooth dongle. Tried everything possible to get it working but it just comes down to the controller not being compatible from what I can see.
Update: I got it working with Bluetooth after buying a new USB 5.0 adapter. For whatever reason it works. The next problem is: I've had 5, yes FIVE of this terrible controllers and all of the have the same issue of the A,B,Y,X buttons barely working, or having to be pressed very hard to get them to activate. Microsoft used to make good controllers back in the original Xbox days but those days are long gone. These new products are absolute trash. I would stay away if you can find something else, just get a Dualshock 4 most likely.
Update again: So it connects to bluetooth but it randomly cuts out a few times per hour, as others have mentioned. What a joke Microsoft.
There are horrible issues with the wireless connectivity with the new generation of xbox controllers. Microsoft has quietly acknowledged the problem and are trying to produce a firmware update, but I'm not holding my breath. The bottom line is that this controller will disconnect from your xbox often enough to make playing impossible. I'm waiting on a cord to hard wire into my xbox because the wireless connection is worthless.. Occasionally, it will play for a few minutes at as time, but it often disconnects every five to ten seconds. Yes, I have checked all of the standard connection issues (low battery, too far from console, wifi interference, firmware update etc.) This is a known issue discussed on many message boards affecting many users. Microsoft knows that there is a significant problem, yet continues to sell them. I've been on the xbox train for 15 years plus. I'm heading to playstation for the next generation. This is unacceptable.
it has alot of updated nice features compared to older controller models but the buttons became hard to push down and became sticking after only less than 1 month of use.. I even babied this controller and took very good care of it and did not touch it with dirty hands so this seems like a flaw with the controller or a quality control issue and I got a defective one.. either way im dissapointed.
Also my second controller first one was dead on the first day of use and was replaced by amazon. My old Xbox one controller is still working fine after several years of heavy use yet this new core controller is having thumbstick issues after only a few months of use.
I only play videogames on weekends. I purchased this on March 21, 2021 and today on September 10, 2021 it stopped working completely.
I found out the sync button doesn't work when it randomly disconnected from the Xbox. When plugged in, only the left stick and the Xbox button works. The d-pad, right stick, bumpers, triggers and XYAB buttons no longer work.
Product lasted five months using the USB-C cable as a viable option. Now it only works if you use batteries and bluetooth because the connection via cable is completely unreliable and frequently disconnects unless it is held in a perfect way that is completely incompatible with everyday use. Not to mention that the warranty on the product is determined by everything except date-of-purchase, so you could quite literally pick up a controller and find out it expired just before the issues became present.
This controller is now 2 months old. It is now starting to direct in the wrong direction and now my avatar moves forward when not pushing any buttons. I want a new one , let's see if the warranty is any good. Will keep you posted
This device is not compatible with Windows 10. Check out the 120+ page thread on the Microsoft forums. Its been a know issue since the controllers release. The said it was fixed in the last firmware update but this is a lie. The disconnects became "less frequent", but they are still there. The controller itself is fine, even if its a bit cheap feeling for something $80. But if your buying this for PC gaming then skip bluetooth based controllers altogether and pick up a wired controllers or 2.4ghz one.
I think it was really trash of Microsoft for making it so that the batter cover from previous gen controller not be able to slide on to this new gen. Making my docking station charger useless. Petty, dirty little design change with its only purpose to screw the customer. Also fire the genius who put the screen cap button in the center, just horrible.
