5.0 out of 5 starsWell Worth the Read

With this book you get is a diverse selection of people involved in the investment industry who talk about their own backgrounds and personal experiences with investing. It's definitely not a "how-to" book on investing, although certainly there is something to be learned. What I took from it, and appreciate, is that one's approach to investing might not always match the theoretical ideal. Furthermore, there are different ideas as to what that ideal might be. Your investing process can be a kind of journey, changing as you change. So much of investing, and finance in general, is psychological rather than economic or mathematical; what this book gave me is permission not to beat myself just because I haven't achieved the ideal investment strategy. For that reason alone, it is worth every penny.

2.0 out of 5 starsNothing special. Average at best.

Bought this book as I’m a big fan of Josh Brown. This book sure is repetitive, not intentional I’m sure-many of these ‘ experts’ think the same about money. What’s most surprising is the vast amount of wealth these managers make off other people’s money. One manger talked about an H&H fund. Seriously ! Houses and Horses. Many of the techniques can be applied, but not exactly emulated unless you are part of the 1% club. The fact is none of these experts know more than an individual that is interested in investments, they just happen to make a career of it......and this is why advice is really non specific and that’s the path to financial freedom. Time, diversify, dollar cost averaging, low fees (usually), 10%+ your income saved.

4.0 out of 5 stars interesting read about the why's of individual investing philosophy

Would have liked more detail from these industry leaders on some specific funds they choose for their own portfolios. Only a few were brave enough to do that. Mostly general ideas of what they did with thirty money. A little misleading, but still interesting.

Good books are hard to put down, this book was hard to pick up. Very boring, disappointing, and a waist of money. This book lacked effort. Josh Brown could do better and I’ll be reluctant to consider any future publications of his.

I liked this book. It's easy to read because it is interesting and informative.
How money managers think of money and deal with theirs will help guide me in the future.
Identified with many of them. Took a few pointers from some.

1.0 out of 5 stars pretty much worthless
Reviewed in Canada on February 9, 2021
you won't learn much. listened to the whole book, the TLDR is leverage who you are (and what you are), take what you can, talk about your "struggle" and then make money off of it to continue to do this and then keep ramping that up. you won't learn much about how people actually invest their money and the info that is provided is pretty out of touch with the average person.

really disappointed with this book and it reinforces a lot of stereotypes of personal finance people, very out of touch and at times it is laughable some of the advice on here. I am painting with broad strokes here but just a really disappointing listen and content that isn't worth much. would strongly avoid buying this book theres much better books out there on these topics.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book

I really enjoyed this book. Some of the leading financial experts spend just a few pages each explaining how they invest their money. What comes across really though is WHY they invest their money rather than HOW and each one does it differently, for many different reasons, despite most people knowing the optimum way to invest. And the pictures by Carl Richards are great as you would expect.

Josh the book just arrived this morning here in London, UK. It's the first book I've ever pre-orderer and the first one that hasn't come by recommendation or through syllabus requirement during my studies. I've watched you on CNBC for a while and just had a feeling the book would be right up my street. I can confirm 24 pages in that I can't put it down. It's a fantastic read and grabs you straight off the bat resonating with my own perspective of finance and investment. Love the personal and down to earth insights you have managed to collect from the lives of these professional investors. Great Read! All the best. Perry
