I just loved the illustrations and the importance of teaching children about the negative effects of pollution cannot be stressed enough.
The missing star is because the illustrations and text are not always well integrated e.g. "... Nelson swam into a bottle which hit crab..." but the illustration shows both of them being on the beach.

I downloaded this book on my kindle. It is touching story about a clumsy seal who discovers something amazing about himself. The illustrations are lovely and the book’s message is an important one. We loved it.

To be perfectly honest I was disappointed with this book. I really wanted to enjoy it & bought it after reading the positive reviews & the information that it included a message around the pollution of the world's seas. I found the story to be quite clunky & disjointed. I can see the angle the author was going for but for me it was a miss. I hope to grow to love it as my daughter is still only very young & perhaps as she grows & becomes more curious she will help me find the value in this tale by asking questions about it.

This is an excellent book filled with fun characters that immediately captivated all 3 of my children (ages 9 years old, 5 years old and 3 years old). The theme was spot on and opened the dialog into how we as a human race can do more to save our planet. Our children are the future in every sense of the word. Highly recommend parents everywhere, to buy a copy of your own! Will be collecting the whole series, now. A new favorite.

This is an empowering book that teaches children that they can do anything in spite of their shortcomings. Nelson is a seal that repeatedly hears about his flaws from other animals. However, his "I think I can" mentality allows him to save the same animals that discouraged him. Great read. I did take a star off due to a typo, a tense error and some of the word usage was awkward.

In our house, the array of interesting characters were a big hit. As a mom, I appreciate how the author subtly educates her reader on ocean pollution-- a huge environmental issue!

A fantastic tale about a clumsy seal and how he finds the hero inside to save his friends. The book is full of other charming characters, wise octopus, basking shark, crab, dolphin . Illustrations are astounding from an award winning illustrator. This book has a double message. It also shows the impact of pollution on marine life.
