High school fun that's great for young readers

Ball Boy reminds me of the books I read in grade school, when I looked at high schoolers as giants and athletes as heroes. Reading it reminded me of the feeling of lying on my stomach alone as a kid, a book held open on the floor between my hands and nothing else going on in the world.
If you read Matt Christopher books as a kid, you know that feeling, and Ball Boy evokes it wonderfully.

Gray evolves into a great wise young man, and his personality is written in such a way that there are moments you don't know whether to hug him or yell at him. Great read!
