I purchased this metal detector as a starter machine as I am a beginner. I searched Amazon for a couple of days looking for an inexpensive detector that could get me out searching for treasure. I started searching the local beach and I was hooked. I found all sorts of items, everything but gold. Lol. The metal detector did what it was designed to do. I had minimal experience with detectors prior to buying this one but I give a breakdown. The different metal settings seem to work but as I got more experience with it I learned the different tones and what to expect when I dug it up. There is a ton of iron objects in the ground and I pretty much dig everything. Larger objects have been read up to 18inches underground mostly old crib spikes and hand forged nails. The pin pointer setting is nice and works well but I would recommend paying a couple of extra bucks on a pin pointer. Allows you to find the item a bit quicker. Scanning is easy and speaker is nice and loud. When you get a hit you have to slow your search down to tag the object. This detector only has a one way signal which makes it a little harder to narrow down the object. Once you have a hit and slow down it’s easy enough to mark the area. Then use the pinpoint setting to get even closer. I’ve tested the detector in the water and it worked well, little trickier than onshore. It was tested in 12 inches of water and only the coil was submerged which is what the directions state. Overall, I really like the detector and it did exactly what I wanted to do. I used it as a pass time in the mornings when I couldn’t go fishing and it got me out of the house. As a beginner detector I really enjoyed it. Battery life is good, speaker nice and loud, different setting all work.
