5.0 out of 5 starsGreat book
Reviewed in Canada 🇨🇦 on October 4, 2016
Quite good. I would rate it 4.5/5 since it's not my favourite of Liz Greene's books, but this book definitely helps one understand the influence of Saturn, which seems to be quite underrated and not fully understood in common astrology. I learned a lot from reading this, I would recommend it. The 4 part series by Liz Greene and Howard Sasportas on Dynamics of the Unconscious, Inner Planets, Luminaries, etc. are really amazing I would recommend them first before reading this one in general... Unless you really have a big desire for a Saturn house by house, sign by sign specific analysis.

3.0 out of 5 starsAfter being immersed in learning Hellenistic Astrology, this modern reference is hard to go back to.
Reviewed in Canada 🇨🇦 on May 4, 2022
I appreciate the reputation this book has had on a generation of astrologers. However, after taking up deep immersion into Hellenistic astrology (via Robert Schmidt, Demetra George, Chris Brennan), I honestly had a hard time continuing with the book. The significations of Signs = Houses are conflated throughout - something that's been taken for granted repeatedly in much of modern western astrology (out of ignorance through no fault of anyone). The approach reflected in this book (and many like it) needs to be put into historical context as the conflation of signs and houses reflects a period before the original Hellenistic source texts were recovered through Project Hindsight's efforts. In essence, it reflects a stream of astrology in the west that was recovered based on incomplete information for understanding the distinction of the Signs and Houses and underlying conceptual frameworks that sit behind them.
I'm still on the lookout for books that don't repeat this conflation of Signs = Houses, but so far I'm having tough luck. Stephen Arroyo's books are excellent, but I haven't come across a book solely about Saturn written by him. If anyone reading this can give suggestions, please give me a poke!

1.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as the reviews claim!
Reviewed in Canada 🇨🇦 on August 19, 2018
After reading this book, I had less understanding of Saturn than I had prior to reading it. Liz Green's writing style is so complicated and her analysis is inaccurate. I looked at my natal chart and applied her analysis to simply understand a basic aspect I have, i.e. Saturn in the 3rd house at 29 degrees squares my Sun and Mercury both in the 12th house (exact). Frankly, everything she mentioned didn't make ANY sense. She like to make it so poetic but I'm in my late 40s and I know for a fact that her analysis is inaccurate. Other books did explain that aspect in depth and with great accuracy. Not a big of her "poetic" yet not-at-all-helpful analysis.

1.0 out of 5 stars Misleading, unbalanced, waste of time and money

This is one of the most misleading astrology books I have ever read. It is promoted as a book that sheds constructive light on Saturn and potentially positive qualities that are possible, versus constricting and fatalistic. However, every single interpretation of Saturn with every single possible aspect, whether natal or synastry, whether house, planet or sign, is gone in depth in a very negative traditional sense of the malefic. Overwhelmingly so. I was very disappointed that a book that is supposedly more modern and constructive in its interpretation of Saturn reads like any other "old" traditional set of interpretations, with a deep focus on what other writers would call "afflictions" (hard aspects)--but Greene uses that as her default. What a waste of time and money. I do not recommend. For more useful interpretations of Saturn with a balance that includes a deep interpretation of soft aspects, refer to Robert Pelletier, Frances Sakoian & Louis S. Acker, or Bernie Ashman, just for starters.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor reproduction of a classic

This review is for the Kindle edition.

I have heard about this book and was very excited to get a copy for my kindle. Unfortunately, the kindle edition appears to be a scan of the original text, which makes it very difficult to read. The kindle edition looked like a rush job. The ink is highly inconsistent and the typeface cannot be changed. Only the size can be changed, which does not make it any easier to read. After reading the first few pages I found it too much of a pain and decided to go through the whole text rapidly. It is a pity to see such a well known classic with such poor formatting offered for sale.

I do not recommend this version until and unless the publishers re-format the book.

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible!

This is a terrible book! It's a mish-mash of unintelligible jargon. Non sequitor. Her worst book. I don't like her prose on this one. She's confused and out of touch. Prolix. Antiquated concepts. Too Jungian.

1.0 out of 5 stars Não vale o preço

It was a book completely wasting my money. I do not understand at all why author wasted time to write this book.
If you think this book will help you improving your predictive skills with respect to saturn related aspects in a horoscope then let me tell you never buy this book.

This book is kind of a novel you keep reading but you never know why are you reading all this.

I will completely say NO for this book.
