1.0 out of 5 starsDoesn't Come With a Frame, Forced Ads, & a Monthly Subscription For Art Mode
Reviewed in Canada on October 24, 2021
TV looks good. Still bitter that the expensive TV I bought called 'The Frame' didn't come with any actual frame(s). You have to purchase 'The Frames' separately (at an eye-popping ~$200 each). The actual frames are just cheap plastic (but granted, they do look good), one or several of them could have easily been included in the box the TV (that again, is called 'The Frame') came in.
Seems 'The Frame' line of TV's is all about nickel and dimeing customers. No actual frame(s) are included with the purchase of the TV (even though almost all of the product photos include a frame around the TV) and every-time you want to use 'Art Mode' on the TV (one of the main features of this product) you have to navigate through an ad that aggressively pushes the +$10/month subscription to access the 'art' library. There is a few handfuls of free art options available, but that requires you to push past the subscription offer each time.
The cherry on top is the banner ads they include in the bottom of the TV interface. I would have gladly paid more to not feel like I am being exploited at every turn, or at the very least I would have appreciated some up-front communication on all of this.
TV without the +$200 frames looks like a pretty regular TV. With the optional frame(s) on it looks pretty good.
Also, there is no way to for the TV to automatically turn on in Art Mode. So if you are interested in Art Mode just be aware that you have to manually navigate to it each time you turn on the TV (while pushing through the subscription offer each time). If you turn off the TV while it is in art mode, or something interrupts Art Mode (like Casting/Air Play) it will not revert back to Art Mode...you'll be sent back to the main interface with those lovely banner ads they have to get views for.
The product looks really good on my wall -after I purchased the actual frame for it. Beautiful physical product that has been ruined, in my opinion, by a poor interface & some tacky greed. I'll be keeping the TV but will be avoiding anything Samsung going forward.
