As a credentialed project manager (PMP) for the past 10 years, I can attest to the concepts and approach presented in this book. It does a great job at laying out a simple and concise, but complete framework for leading teams to get things done. I think it would be particularly beneficial to newer project managers or people put in charge of a project or other team initiative to give them the tools necessary to get the job done without a long ramp-up period. The book defines 6 tools to use, such as expectations exchange and ground rules, and while there isn’t necessarily much that is new here, the value of the book is in how these concepts are presented along with several examples to make them easier to understand.

The purpose of the leadership journal is to give leaders, and those who manage projects, tools to help with problem solving, communication, project management. All of the tools are used based on a Plan-Do-Review framework which is similar to the Deming problem solving cycle. The nice thing about the journal is that the management tools are simple to use and work for all stages of a project. Overall, it is a great book with some simple, effective tools that will work for a project, or in day-to-day management.

First of all it is highly priced. And the contents are not detailed enough understand and use these tools outlined in the book, only people who got training or attended the author's video program relating to this only can use these tools outlined in the book. It is very high level. A consultant or leadership coach can not use it as reference for his/her consulting engagement. May be little useful for project management or solving a particular problem. I believe the book is an advertising tool for the author's programs available on their website. I really disappointed with the tiny book from a consulting learner perspective.

From the academic perspective, the book may be more appropriately titled "The Manager's Journal" (yet a less appealing title), although leadership skill and management skill are most of the time interwoven in practice.
