5.0 out of 5 starsTwists and turns, a real page turner
Reviewed in Canada 🇨🇦 on January 4, 2023
You think it’ll go one way, but it goes the other, and keeps you guessing until the VERY end. It has heat, action, comedy and as with all of J.T.’s books, extremely well written. Bravo!!! I loved it!!!

Very slow start… almost DNF. Then it got good and I loved the book up until right at the end. The ending was also a bit of a let down. Mixed reviews on it but loved “the loop” this book throws at you.

3.0 out of 5 stars Ok book

Well, this book started off good. I was really into it and fell in love with the characters. That was up until the major plot twist that had me thinking WTF. At this point I didn't want to continue with it but once you're over 80% in, you need to know how it ends. Well it took another WTF plot twist at the very end and that was it. Did I love the book? No. Did I hate it? No. Do I wish these plot twists hadn't happened? Absolutely. The author's writing is very good I just wished the story could've unfolded differently. I would absolutely read this author again.

I was loving this... right up until the ending.
That really ruined it for me and I was annoyed so much that I almost didn't want to finish hahah seems silly, but it was just so out there and weird it really ruined the book for me.
I see a lot of folks here loved that, but it was not for me.

3.0 out of 5 stars innovative and entertaining women’s fiction

Since this is my first J.T. Geissinger book, I’ll start by saying I will be reading more of books in future.
There’s something about her writing style that is so easy to read and fall into. She writes chaos so beautifully and relatable.

This story grabbed me at first, it was hilarious and I oddly felt like I could relate to the inner ramblings and antics of Olivia… this girl is a hot mess, and I felt it to the core!
James was dreamy beyond all dreams. And perfectly perfect- like a dream. With his perfect blue eyes, and perfect everything. I was on board with that- because he later became suspicious af, and that was perfect too 😅

I started to have reservations because the sex scenes…they felt like adult fantasy entertainment (and I concur, it was)… but then came a bunch of intrigue as the plot thickened and a lot of action movie-like comedy ensued… and this was enjoyable for some odd reason.

Then…

The last 20% was like entering an alternative universe after I was thrown off a roller at high velocity… my WTFFs began to rationalise the plot, gain perspective and then…. I got run over but a semi… am I being dramatic?! Heck no, you have to read this yourself to believe it.

The story itself is innovative and entertaining, more like women’s fiction than romance.
I loved parts of the story but some of it was undone by the ending. I as left unsure about what I actually read and as an emotional reader I felt like I read a different book to the one I was actually reading.

I’m being cryptic (I hope) because I don’t want to blurt out spoilers.

I won’t discourage anyone from reading this book. It is something DIFFERENT.

PLEASE NOTE: there are sensitive triggers warnings that shouldn’t be taken lightly.

3.0 out of 5 stars I understood the story yet…..

Ok I have to start by saying this was my first time reading this author and enjoyed the writing. That being said there were lots of issues with this story.

This story is written in 4 parts.
Part One caught my attention I loved the dialogue and enjoyed the FMC her wit and sarcasm was on point. The story had some dark undertones that got my attention. Needless to say it got me hooked.
Then Part Two happened and the story seem to be taking a turn and it became inconsistent with the first part like the author had change her mind and decided to go on a different direction one of more action and it didn’t fit well with the rest of the story. I didn’t care for this part at all. When Part THREE came along I was just wishing for it to end walk away and cut my losses but half way through it the story changed yet again. Now this part reminded me so much of Part One and I really enjoyed the dialogue once more.
But… I spoke to soon Part Four came along and it all went down hill once more. The author decided to explain the story on this part and it just didn’t work. It was like a comedian trying to explain a joke not a good thing if you have to do that.

I just think the story was TOO busy and it obviously confused some people and people like me just didn’t enjoy the twists and turns. If you are writing a dark story just stick to it and own it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Wanted 2 love it.

I wanted to love this book. Spoilers ahead.....

It started very slow getting to a point in the story. A girl meets a boy and they start spending time together etc. Then she only has limited time to date him before going back home. Ok I'm starting to like this now we have a plot. Then she finds out he's dying and realizes how important their time together is. Ok now I'm starting to love this book. Then it spins into complete nonsense and chaos. He's not really dying, he's an assassin. They move away and are happy until she realizes none of it is real. She's in a mental ward and gets released to her unloving douche bag husband who's waiting for her to die so he can be with his mistress. Then she figures out how to return to her dream state to be reunited with her assassin lover... Only is not really a dream state at all its a book she's writing so none of it is real at the end. Like seriously wtf did I just read. This book had a lot of potential but it felt like there wasn't a proper timeline created when writing this book. Reading it was like reading the first draft of a bunch of scattered ideas not properly developed. It's like the author had great ideas but got lost in the translation. I'm not taking anything away from the authors writing skills because they are definitely good. I just feel this book went in 2 many directions 2 fast.
It could've been epic. The narrators were absolutely amazing. Probably the best I've heard so far.
I not going to pass on this author because I feel the ideas are definitely interesting and I'm pretty certain there's epic writing potential. This one just didn't do it for me. Just 2 many curve balls that hit you too fast to keep up.

This book...I don't even know to review this right now. I'm so confused and kind of annoyed at the turn it took 3/4 the way through. I felt this was going to be a five star read, I loved it so much in the beginning, but could feel there was going to be heartbreak and tears at the end. Well I didn't get heartbreak and tears and you if you are looking for a romance with HEA, this isn't the book for you. You will have to read it to understand, I won't say more as I don't want to give anything away. I will say this...J.T. Geissinger, why did you do this to us?

Would have rated higher, but the plot was so convoluted it broke my brain. Without spoilers I can't explain. The most of the book had me enthralled, until...then I was livid. I refuse to gives stars because a book drew out strong emotions, anger and rage do NOT count.

The book is good up to the last 4 chapters and it pulled inception but the book version. Otherwise, it's decent but I feel like I wasted my time reading it.
