5.0 out of 5 starsTwists and turns, a real page turner
Reviewed in Canada 🇨🇦 on January 4, 2023
You think it’ll go one way, but it goes the other, and keeps you guessing until the VERY end. It has heat, action, comedy and as with all of J.T.’s books, extremely well written. Bravo!!! I loved it!!!

3.0 out of 5 starsnot sure where to start
Reviewed in Canada 🇨🇦 on October 13, 2021
Very slow start… almost DNF. Then it got good and I loved the book up until right at the end. The ending was also a bit of a let down. Mixed reviews on it but loved “the loop” this book throws at you.

I love all the twists and turns in this book. And the audible version is a duet which is amazing. Great narration. Well worth the credit.

I’m not going to ruin it. You have to read this book to really appreciate the ending. Like wow! This book was such a nice surprise. Read it, you won’t be disappointed, maybe just a tiny bit devastated, but you’ll get over it :)

4.0 out of 5 stars Take me to Paris!
Reviewed in Canada 🇨🇦 on October 11, 2021
Olivia Rossi needs to get her head back into the writing game. She’s suffered a tragedy so damaging that she wasn’t sure how she could even function on a day to day. Her agent and friend, Estelle, allows her to stay at her place in Paris so she can find her creativity once again.

Oh does she ever find a lot of creativity. It practically flows out of her when she meets James Blackwood.

The only thing that stunts her is…he reads her so well. A bit too well. He can see that she’s been consumed with sadness and darkness in her life. The two hit it off and we’re taken on a twisty, emotionally, funny and sexy ride.

I wish I could write more in regards to how I feel about this book but I think I’d rather not. If I shared more, I’d have to talk about everything. This book is worth my lack of information. Also, have some tissue nearby.

4.0 out of 5 stars Rollercoaster of emotions
Reviewed in Canada 🇨🇦 on June 15, 2020
By Chapter 5, I was completely devoted and mentally committed to the main characters.
Normally my taste in books travels a different path but I am so so happy I gave J.T Geissinger's books a chance because I have not been disappointed.
This is going into my "most favourite book" pile.

4.0 out of 5 stars I'm conflicted
Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on December 31, 2022

I'm not sure how I feel about this book. This is my 6th book I've read straight thru by this author, and I'm kind of disappointed.

In a literary "cool" kind of way this is probably an awesome book, but what it did to me is completely disregarded the characters I fell in love with, and made me feel like my emotional investment was a complete waste.

The third part of it was so not necessary. By spelling it out that this was all fake, it ruined the love story for me. I don't care how much this is based on someone's awesome husband, you just don't tell a reader you fooled them and it was all fake. We know it's fake, but it's kind of nice to pretend that it isn't. The emotional residue would have lasted a lot longer if J and O ended up in Provence again with a girl with a similar name as E, as a way of reconciling that grieving part of heroine. This was like finding out Santa doesn't exist, but for grownup.

As someone who has lost a child, you wish for nothing more than to see them again - not after going thru a book like this to be told "she came home from school", as in, nothing really happened here, you grieved some combination of letters making up words in a few chapter.

For one, why would you in any way shape or form kill your pretend/real child twice with the same name as your pretend/real child. That would go against any mother's instinct, like you don't even dare to think about that because you're so scared your worst fear will come to be. It feels like the intent was to show that "no children were harmed in a writing process", but in the same breath it totally makes J and O's relationship nothing more than a figment of someone's imagination. It killed the magic for me, and added an "ew" factor of someone's "happy times". That's not why I read these books.

In a writing world this maybe worthy of a Michelin chef's award, to me it was like adding anchovies on top of a perfectly good sundae.

Off to the next book by this author because she's awesome, just no anchovy/magic ruining plots anymore.

4.0 out of 5 stars Page turner keeps you guessing

You think you know where this is going, and like all spicy books have it figured out. The last 100 pages had me questioning everything going on. Unlike most books, the spice level starts early, and then the story unfolds, leading to a surprisingly satisfying read. I wasn’t sure I could finish this by part 3 because it was so nerve racking as to what was going to happen to those characters. Great twist to put us and the characters on their heads.

Olivia and James had me at the beginning then all the twists happen and the characters I am invested in change. Not sure what to think about this book. Definitely surprised and was hooked couldn’t wait to finish reading to see what happens next. Lost sleep to finish this book in one sitting.
