I really liked this story, Alisha is not to sure of Kendra and doesn’t trust her, she is afraid that she will take her promotion. It was interesting to see when the two would realize they are meant to be. A cute love story.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Dragon shifter and lawyer Kendra was hemmed in at the family firm. Frustrated, seeking independence she left to test out different jobs including bartending before returning to her true career but with a rival law firm. Dragonkin Alisha is a junior lawyer at Silver Law where Kendra ends up. It turns out that the two had hooked up for one night some time ago which makes their first work meeting somewhat awkward plus they are partnered up to work on a big case together. Over time the strained, suspicion laden working relationship changes to a harmonious one and much more. Then the waters of Crescent Lake and the Crescent Moon ritual work their mating magic. A quick, easy read with the inevitable HEA.
I LIKED this book but I didn’t love it. I didn’t really feel for the characters or have a connection to them. The relationship was not insta fall in love with each other, so that was good but it still felt quite quick and a bit rushed for me. I felt more could’ve happened outside the two of them. Like the project they were working on or something like that. Something was missing, I think it was that feeling you get when you I care for the characters, when you care if they’re hurting or happy. I just struggled to get that level of emotional involvement.
Having said that, it’s a solid book with good writing that doesn’t have spelling errors and would appeal to a lot of people, especially if they like fated mates, and I will declare honestly that fated mates, aren’t really my thing although I have read some I’ve quite liked. For me it was good but not great (4 stars) or excellent (5 star) novel.
I found this story different from other dragon mate book as well as the variation of shifters, non-shifters that are still dragonskin that are not human. This book is very different to dragon shifter alpha stories. I truly found this story very entertaining and humorous at times throughout the story. I was a little disappointed that there wasn't more detail descriptions of the characters such as age, height, etc. Though this did not change my opinion of this story. I would recommend this book to everyone that loves a good romance.
I'm in awe with this author's world building and this installment in the series is no exception. Finding one's mate under a crescent moon sounds both daunting and exciting and these two lawyers find out just how much when they throw their doubts aside and take an impromptu dip together. A bit of light banter accompanies this sweet romance with just the right amount of angst to keep it interesting. Nicely done.
The story does some interesting things with fated mates. I actually like the budding relationship here the two characters. I was a little confused though. Their was a lot of mention about other characters and it felt like the second book not the first. I also felt the story could do with more world building and side plot but still it was relatively enjoyable and a fast read.
