Although a good read I found the story to be not believable. Don’t think this could happen ever. Author lured us into liking the characters but in the end they were all the same: liars, cheats & mentally unstable.
The Bass family in California is unbelievably wealthy and the couple who head it are suddenly killed in an accident, necessitating Lowell and Harper leaving Nashville to go home to bury the couple and settle the estate. Then all falls apart and turmoil prevails.
It was a good read, although the characters, plot, situations and conversations weren’t very “believable” or realistic.
The twist was good, but it was a little confusing to work it all out - I had to sit and try to make sense of it after reading that page. (Trying not to give spoilers.) I love her writing style though, it was a decently good book overall.
I read through this quickly as I needed to get to the end to find out what the secret was. Well written. That being said, the backstory was a bit muddled and confusing. For instance, the heroine was dating and engaged to this man for ten years and never met his parents or been to his boyhood home? That was a bit far fetched. But putting that aside, the rest of it was riveting.
I could not fall asleep last night. So I started this book around midnight and just finished 7:30. So yes, I read through the night, it did not help me sleep. In fact, it did quite the opposite. I love this authors books. I don't think I've ever been disappointed in any she wrote. Do yourself a favor and read this, just make sure you don't start it at midnight and read straight through to morning. It doesn't feel so great if you have work the next day. Definitely recommend if you like psychological thrillers. Just keep track of the names in the book because there is one chapter close to the end I had to read three times to make sure I knew what they were saying.
Through most of the book my stomach was in knots. The main character drove me crazy with all her thoughts and not being able to be honest. Too many assumptions and too many lies. However, I still recommend this book as it makes you think about your own personal situation.
Well written, not descriptive language used over and over w the same phrases, that is one of my pet peeves, constansting saying the same phrases for multiple situations. Invigorating mysterious clues that you think you've figured out but guess again, they are still twisting. I enjoyed how you felt like you were getting to know the characters so you could become part of the story. My only problems are, the ending seemed a bit " out there " and I believe the book deserves a sequel. I def like this author!
