Would just like to give people some more accurate information because the top review is incorrect.
EFAX suffix does not mean this is an SMR drive. It's correct three is a suit against WD for selling SMR drives in the 2-TB to 6TB range.
Just because the 8TB has the EFAX suffix doesn't mean it's SMR. EFAX suffix has been around since before they started doing SMR on those drives. I did thorough read/write tests on the drives before deploying in NAS and they did not take SMR timescales to complete.
Although this is the air filled version so I noticed it runs warmer than my other drives, but if you have good airflow, it's easy to keep it at the appropriate operating temperature.
Only 4 stars because it's not the helium filled, and partially because WD has eroded some trust with the SMR debacle. All in all though.. they are still good drives, and even my several year old 4TB SMR drives still passed testing recently with no errors.
